About Pura Timba

Hi!

We're Anna and Katri, the organizers behind Pura Timba. What brings us together is a love for Cuban culture, its rich music, and Cuban dances.

The first Pura Timba party happened in April 2024, and the idea was simple: throw a great party where the dance floor is filled with 100% Cuban music and an amazing atmosphere. That's also where the name comes from: Pura Timba is Spanish for "pure timba." And that's exactly what our events are: energetic, a little sweaty, and full of good music! Pura Timba also carries our connection to Cuba: to the dance teachers and friends who live there, its culture, and our memories from the streets, casas, and concerts of Havana.

We want to build our events in a way that keeps us connected to the Cuban community and respects Cuban culture and the people who create it. It matters to us that the people involved in making these events happen have their own real connection to this culture. We're also always looking for ways to support Cubans in Cuba, and to make visible where it all comes from.

It's been amazing to see how warmly Pura Timba has been received, and so we've decided to keep going: one party, one event at a time.
